I did a bit of poking around today after your preamp suggestions and I managed to get onto the Guys at JLM. They are only about 20 mins away! I am going down there next week to check out the tmp-8 and some other gear. I told them that you put me onto it and I think Joe is kinda keen to get some feedback from overseas engineers. Is there anything you would like me to get info on for you while I'm there? These Guys realy know their sh*t from what I can tell! They don't have any distributors yet and everything is sold straight out of the factory so I am guessing it would be a good time to get some gear before the middle man gets his hooks in! If you want anything I would be happy to help out with shipping etc. Just say the word. I wish you could be there when I go in, a trained set of ears would be a great advantage. I was thinking about getting a tube compressor unit and a nice reverb custom built by these guys if all goes well, something to compliment the rest of my front end gear,( a spirit folio SX and a couple of sm 58's ) :D I still don't know what interface I am going to put behind the Nice Mic's and Pre's but I guess thats not quite as crucial at this stage, my edirol will have to do for the moment. I am hoping that it will handle ok if I am not using the built in Pre's. Anyway, thanks for the heads up mate.
I think it's bed time for this little black duck.

I will see if I can twist his arm for you but I draw the line at sexual favours... :D I have only just managed to get onto the computer so I will go and hunt down Sebatron next. Can I get you any freebees while I'm there? If I take the dive for the team, we may end up with some really nice gear for nix......

Kurt about the Alesis AI3, do you consider that to be an "OK" converter for a 001 user.
I'm asking because I got my hands on that gismo yesterday and was using it to rec a live gig, which I'm also recing tomorrow and was offered to buy it. Should I save up for Swissonic or would that be over the top for 001. And lastly, are there two designs of the AI3, the Alesis website says 24bit/48samplerate???
Wont steal this thread no more ;)

Divo,
Just ask Joe to please send me one of everything to review! :D Heee Heee Heee! I am glad you hooked up with him. Joe is a real nice guy and he has shared a lot of his knowledge with the guys at the DYI forum. Very generous of him. A lot of manufactures guard their secrets very closely and resent people building their own pieces but Joe has done just the opposite. Sebatron is also in Oz and you should check out his great products also. Same thing, a great guy!
As far as interface goes, I am currently using the Frontier Dakota (24 / 48) and Alesis AI3’s for 18 channels in and out. The whole shebang was around $1100 USD ($400 ea for the AI3’s and $300 for the Dakota) and sounds surprisingly good. Hope that helps, Kurt
