I am looking to get a JLM Baby Animal preamp, I have read a lot of positive things about it in recording.org/other forums.
I will be using it to record vocals for my hard rock band, where I am attempting to achieve a fat and warm sound. Ultimately would like as much gain as possible .
hi guys, i need a multi-channel pre-amp, mainly for tracking drums. i've narrowed it down to these 2 pres, which work out to roughly the same cost. the JLM is twice as many channels, but the API is an API. if these are in the same league in terms of sound (not necessarily identical but equally good) i would jump on the JLM in a heartbeat.
Is it good for those?How's the sounds like?

I'm starting to do some research into a bank of higher quality pres for tracking, and these caught my interest. I read Kurt's review, now looking for feedback from the field. I emailed Joe Malone to see if there were any here in Nashville, but so far, they haven't made the "third coast" yet. Maybe I'll be the first.
Where do you find these little buggers?
Not even on the JLM website does it mention where or How to buy. Google comes up with nothing.
I did a bit of poking around today after your preamp suggestions and I managed to get onto the Guys at JLM. They are only about 20 mins away! I am going down there next week to check out the tmp-8 and some other gear. I told them that you put me onto it and I think Joe is kinda keen to get some feedback from overseas engineers.
