hi..people.. i bought a m-audio fast track usb.. i supposed you all know what that is.. i have a problem.. I'm not sure if it has a phantom power..48V coz i bought an XLR mic..and i tried using it.. there is no signal at all..nothing..what should i do? i already configured everything in my laptop.. the audio settings all that things..but still i cannot have a signal..
the play back works though..if i play any music..or mp3 file ia can hear it through m-audio fast track but for recording purpose i get nothing..what do you think is the problem..pls help

Yes the fast track DOES have phantom power. Go through this check list:
1) Connect the cable to the mic and interface.
2) Turn all volume levels down
3) Turn on phantom power.
4) Check if the 48V LED is on
5) Make sure the input button is in the UP position. (instrument setting)
6) Talk into mic
7) Slowly turn up gain level until green LED lights up
8) Listen to your signal through headphones (adjust with heaphones volume knob, as well as the mix knob. This does not affect input)
9) Check input signal. If you cannot get an input signalin your computer, it is a software problem. We can deal with that later if that is the case. But make sure the green LED lights up when there is a signal on the interface. If it does not:
1) Check gain settings
2) Check input switch
3) Check phantom power
4) Change cable
5) Change mic
