Don't cheap out whatever you do. Buy the absolute best you can afford for the number of inputs you absolutely need. If you can live with two inputs for a while, get the best two input interface you can afford. Save your money for the next upgrade. Until then, make due. Good enough, is never good enough.
ProTools is nice to have if you don't have another option. Otherwise there is Reaper.
