I've never worked with one, but as far as I know they are the 2 ch. rackmount version of the pres in the XL series consoles from Midas. These are some of the most highly regarded "live" boards out there.
I have used the Midas boards and love their sound and eq. I've always wondered how that would translate into the studio.
Maybe this would be a nice way to try it.
I have an XL42 in the studio and it is great on Kick and Snare. The EQ is wonderful. I think it is a great value. I haven't used it on much else though.
