Hey does anyone have any good tips for minimizing pick noise? Certain placements? Certain picks? I have enough mics to do some tricks, so I welcome any suggestions. My room sound isn't amazing though, so I'd like to keep it rather close.
I would place the mics around the lower bout of the instrument. Stay away from soundhole and you should be fine. Use a Hypocardioid to accenutate a richer spectrum, that will offset the HF pick energy.
that seems to work pretty well, except I have to eq it a little more than I'd prefer (which is very little), but I can live with it. Better have more eq than to only hear the pick in the final mix.
