I'm in a band, and we're looking to upgrade on our interface to something a bit better for recording.
we were looking at either the;
MOTU UltraLite - http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--MTUULTRALITE
or the
DigiDesign MBox - http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--DGDMB2
I'm not sure which way to go, can someone please help me out. or is there a different interface you would recommend for around the same price?
matt.

ok im not the MOST knowledgeable but ive done some reasearch on this. and it looks like no one else wants to answer you.
ProTools is ProTools............. ok, that takes care of that.
but the Motu Unit has 10 inputs and 14 outputs. Useful if youre recording multiple instruments at once. The MBox has only 2 channels.
this information has been brought to you at no cost by Slim Cognito.

I'd go with the MOTU. Stick with whatever program you have, don't bother with pro tools. I don't think that it's worth it. I swear by Logic, and I think that the converters in the MOTU might be better than those in the MBox. If anyone actually KNOWS about that, though, please correct me- if I'm wrong, I shall humbly retract my statement. I'm just assuming, based on what I've read.

If you are in a band the mbox won't do, USB doesn't have the bandwidth to handle more than four tracks at once.
The ultra lite has more capability, and if you grow and need more I/O add another Ultrlite.
