Hi All, been lurking and learning for awhile here - great forum!

When I first discovered this site I was researching an AMD based DAW. I was quickley converted to a Pentium setup - P4B which went to P4pe. and now that I am actually getting ready to purchase...anyone using the p4pe-x with 800mhz processor? I gather that the p4pe-x achieves this by overclocking? and if so - with pc3200 mem is this a stable board for DAW use?

Sidebar: why does the p4b perform better than the p4pe at 'motherboards.org'? (would this be a better choice?)

Why am I going p4pe? - I gather from this site that p4pe makes a reliable DAW. I keep seeing or hearing about issues with the newer boards and they cost more. Feel free to settle my fears, if possible, about the 865 boards - are they as compatible and stable for DAW with HT disabled as the p4pe? I plan to use a G550 and may want to install a 1394 card.

I want to go with a sure bet, not looking for guesswork here. Stories of stable working DAW's would would be much appreciated as I am very close to showing them the money $$$ so please, Show me the way!
