It seems that Digidesign are the firsts to communicate bout PCi express; but for me, doesn't change anything as i can't afford a HD system !!!

How many cards (pci &Pci-X) and users for those cards, are now forced to "update" (change everything as it seems)? GRRRRRRRR !!!!!

if you something that works.... keep it...

and if you want a new mac..... go firewire or wait until motu or whatever supports pci-e..... it's that simple... 8-)

But guess what... i just bought a 2408mk3 and 24I/O extension bundle!!! Pci ..... I just sold my pc and was waiting for those new macs ....damn !!! It drives me nuts not to use dual core processors and the latest mac with that....

but you should be able to get the "old" models at a discount.... i think apple calls it "end of line price"....

and don't worry.... an "old" dual 2.7G will tear your f*****g head off..... it's powerfull....

the dual 2.7's only went down $300 ($2700) at the apple store- the dual 2.0 is still the same price at 2K... however you can lok around on line and get deals. I got my dual 2.0 about 6 months ago for $1600- sure it was open box but who cares. Its blazing fast and Im gonna keep it for quite a while. As a matter of fact, my old dual 867 G4 used to be quite fast enough for my needs until I started getting heavy into virtual instruments. i don't know what your needs are but iznogod is right, a dual 2.7 ought to take care of most people's recording needs... :D

Ha ha, iznogod.

But while a measley dual 2.7 might be okay for now, it may have trouble in the future when we start using "better" sample rates. I hear from my sources that 1536K sample rate is really where digital audio comes alive. Especially when we get our bionic ears in 2056!
