I'm a voice-over hobbyist in my spare time (and hopefully one day as a career), but I've found that lately I don't really have the time to sit down at my computer and record in peace and quiet.
I've decided that it is time I get a portable recording device, not only for my voice-overs, but also for field recording, and when it comes of need, lectures during college classes. I'm pretty open to the world of audio right now, and still figuring out exactly what it is I want to do with it as a career, and so I'm looking for something that would work well for all three of these. Though, my main focus is in fact for vocal recording.
I've been reading reviews, and while the ZH4 seems to have some very nice recordings even with just the built-in condenser mics, I've also read of a confirmed issue with the blinking LED during Record Mode that causes an audible blip during recording. I'm not quite sure how audible, so hopefully someone can shed a bit more light on this issue, and let me know if it is something that may impede recording sessions altogether.
I've heard and read great things about the MR-1 and the Edirol as well from my father (he is a guitarist), and so I'm really at an impasse on what to write down on this year's Christmas list.
Anyone have any advice on a portable recorder that would be great for vocal application?
