I've narrowed down my choices to the Edirol R-09HR and the Sony PCM-M10. Both appear to get a lot of praise, but I'd like to post a final question before I pony up the dough.

I'll be using the recorder for a fair amount of on-location interviewing, using the recorder with an external omnidirectional mic. In home, I'll run a mixer to it from multiple sources.

I am a DJ and have used different programs to capture my mix CD's which isn't a very complicated task pretty much output to input type connection but I want to get into recording vocals. I have a Studio Projects B1 condenser mic, Edirol Fa 66 preamp and I am using Adove Audition. I have done some test recordings but seems the volume is really low.

Hey all,

Hoping someone out there has some experience with this 4 track "field recorder" and would be willing to share some stories.

I guess Im looking for reports on durability and ruggedness.

It will be primariy used for location sound in the reality sector, and the ocassional atmos recording.
