I just got my new Audiophile 2496 and had all kinds of trouble installing it. I had already downloaded the latest Win2000 driver from their website. No matter how i tried to get it installed, it would not function properly. All I would get were brief looped sounds, and my CPU usage would skyrocket to 50-75%, as though it were caught in a loop. So finally I downloaded the Win9x drivers and it worked fine.
Anyone else having trouble with Delta Win2000 drivers?

Yes, I did install service pack 2, but only the express version.

I've seen cards that are very finicky as to what slot they go in.

I read somewhere else about using M-Audio's driver uninstaller to clean everything out before installing a new driver. I might give that a try.

hmm...most interesting...I know any MAudio card is pretty damn picky about slots and IRQ's...I know IRQ 5 is the preferred choice for that card..which slot, I believe should be 3 or 4...
Other than that it's fresh install time basically...unless they send you a registry patch to delete any paths to the drivers at all.

P4B266-SE, Audiophile (WDM 5.10.0.27 drivers) and Win2K Pro+SP2 are running fine on my PC. What video card do you have? Any other hardware? USB devices? Standard mode or ACPI? Did you try to disable unnecessary stuff in BIOS?
Here's the Delta board:

maybe you'll find any insight there.

Good point about the video card...please let us know about the questions Audiohead has asked!

Video card is a Matrox G450. The only other hardware devices are a 56K USRobotics modem (hardware, not a winmodem) and a printer. USB and serial ports are disabled in BIOS. I did ACPI because I read in another forum that with the 845 chipset it was not as critical to use standard PC mode due to additional IRQs.
However, the driver that I got from the M-Audio site is WDM5.10.0.26, not .27 could this be a problem? It's the only dirver that came up from their "driver search" page.
Crap, I just did another search and selected "show beta versions", and the .27 driver is listed, as a beta version. Gotta try that. Or is there an official version that I can't find? Thanks guys, for the guidance. I'll let you know how I do.

UNBELIEVABLE!
Downloaded the beta driver, ran the driver uninstaller, the restarted the PC, chose the new driver pak, WHAM-BAM, didn't even need to restart! Crystal clear audio. I can't believe I didn't check the date on that other driver, it would have tipped me off right away. Thanks for steering me in the right direction audiohead.
We are building a DAW of extra-ordinary magnitude.
You have our gratitude!
