I have a small bedroom-stlye home studio. in the past i had a sound-proof drumroom where i could create and record my own drum tracks. now my drums are in storage, sound room is gone, and i'm looking for a groovebox alternative with sampling abilities. i record using Cubase on a 24/96 system. very simple stuff generated with guitar and juno keyboard. i prefer to create all sounds analog outside of the computer. i.e. have a box i can rest on my lap and play with when the computer is off.

idealy, i'd like a groovebox with sampling capabilities. it should have at least 2, 1/4" outputs. input(s) should also be 1/4". i want to avoid RCA. midi jacks are irrelevent - i don't use em.

looking around, i found things like the Roland MC 303/307 and also the Korg Electribe series. not even considering the $1k+ akai stuff. I'd like to get some input from people who have used these things. i understand the 303 has no sampling ability, but it gives you an idea of the sort of thing i'd like.

any ideas?
