I was recording a dry guitar thru an Avalon 737 last night. The dry sound on tape is real clean. I then went out an aux, balenced, thru a radial JDI, out of the JDI, unbalenced, into a pod. When the pod comes back into the mixer it has more hiss and less balls then plugging straight into the pod.
Am I doing something wrong? Shouldnt it sound the same as plugging straight into the pod?
I am doing this cause I dont want to commit to a guitar sound at tracking. Seems like this offers tons of flexibility when mixing and makes setting up the tracking session real fast.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like an impedance mis match. try coming straight out of the aux and directly into the POD, eliminating the DI box..
