Avoid any motherboard with a VIA Technologies chipset.! ( I have a ECS K7S5A motherboard with the AMD Athlon XP1600 and SIS735 chipset, it has PCI bandwidth that blows Intel,AMD and VIA chipsets away.) Also beware some AMD chipsets are used in conjunction with the VIA eg; AMD 761/VIA 686B combo.

I am finishing up a build using the IWILL KK266, (VIA KT266), and an Athlon XP 1700. I am predicting great things. Then again, I have done so before. I did some research and found opinions that would suggest I'm in for some problems, but I used the VIA anyways. Based on the "Build yer own T-Bird" article from ProRec.com.
Of course as soon as I got the physical build done, I read where Pete Leoni, the author of the "Build Yer Own" article, has gone back to Intel stuff 'cuz of the problems he had with the VIA chipset........Dang, I wish he would have updated the ProRec site!!
Anyways, I'll be back to report on the whole deal here soon. I hope.
This was my first build. Where do I send in to get my "Geek" patch?

Cymbals and Bump, Iwill has not yet produced a motherboard with the VIA KT266 nor does it look like they will. They instead went with the ALI chipset for thier all out AMD board in the XP333.
The Iwill KK266 uses the VIA KT133a chipset with the south bridge being the 686B(the chip closest to the PCI slots controlling the input/output)
Congrats on your successful builds, if they work well thats what counts.
