Can these two pieces of gear place nice together?

The problem I see is that there is no external digital audio connections for the Seasound. Is there a way they can be clocked together through software?

Do I even need to worry about clocking them together if they both are hooked up through PCI slots? What if one was PCI, and the other was PCI-E?

Is there anything else I should know or be concerned about?

Thanks!

Unfortunately you can't really use them together without fudging it a bit. You'd have to use a third party driver like Asio4All. I don't think it's the most ideal way to go about things. Stability may be an issue. You may find, you will have sync and/or drop out issues. I've never had a lot of luck trying to use Asio4all.

Is the Soloist essential to the way you work or are you just trying to maintain your past investment. Honestly, I think there are probably better devices out there, even from Presonus, that are worth saving up for.

Hueseph,

No, its not essential, I was just trying to find a way to keep two extra inputs. I was thinking the headache might not be worth it, but figured might as well ask. Because the original drivers were not designed for windows XP, I currently use Asio4All. Not sure how that would work in conjunction with the FireStudio. Thanks for getting back.

Maybe. Maybe not. Asio4all will use the latency you set it at. Whether this will adversely affect the useable latency, I don't know. I never really got it to work all that well. Never the less. It does work. I still don't think it's worth the effort. The Soloist is beyond legacy now. It's virtually obsolete. If you had an older laptop running Windows 98 it might be usefull but who has one of those and if they do, why? It's not a particularly nice interface anyway. I think it would be good to pass on to someone who needs it or just recycle it.
