Hi,
I am seriously considering picking an STC8 in close future.
I wanna expand my analog rig ( Hedd 192 >OCL2 > Ibis EQ > Hedd 192 > PT HD).

a) Is it really a clean processor?

b) Do you do your make-up gain with this unit, instead of other processors or. digitally ITB?

I was going to pick an API2500, which is a coloured box but I prefer processors with the option of turning on/off colour like the Hedd 192.

Any info is wellcomed.

I have used the STC8 in the past. I would buy one if I could afford it.

ITs a great box. More on the transparent end of the spectrum. With Hara and KI etc functions you can add a touch of colour, however its not as bold as the Tracker model.

I used the make up gain with the STC8.

The API2500 is also a great bus comp. But it is coloured, but in a very good way ;)

I do not enjoy doing more than 2dbs of make-up gain with the OCL2.

Of course we may do the not so desirable gain lift ITB, but a fresh high RMS at the a/d with a bit of clipping is much preferrable .

RMS noise floor here is -80 / -72 when entering ITB due to the OCL2 make-up gain. And I have already substituted its tubes.
