I recently upgraded to a stereo mixer, part out of a need for more power, part out of a need to seperate guitar and vocal EQ for home recording use.

Mostly I play solo. But,occasionally I get together with other musicians for live gigs. But, I have not used this new mixer/amp live yet (and I am only experienced with mono). So, from a live performance standpoint, can you tell me what the best EQ mix would be for a stereo setup?

I know I can confidently split the EQ of vocal and instrumental channels using each channel's dedicated 9 band graphic equalizer and tone controls and pump it all back into a mono mix. But, does it make sense to split the mix of, say, the instruments into stereo i.e. two guitars playing, fade one slightly left one slightly right of stage. Or do I just stay with a mono approach? I'm also conerned about the listener who, depending on where seated, hears mostly one side of the mix. By splitting the EQ job into two stereo channels, I might be compounding my effort at getting the right balance. What do the pros do?
