Suspicion does abound here at RO and it's phreaking absurd. First, who gives a crap if someone posts info to get the word out about a product? Whether they're a distributor going incognito or a sales person trying to drum up interest in a line of gear is irrelevant. This is the internet and playing "sphincter poice" is just ridiculous.

I'm just a normal guy that has a small home recording studio and I've been accused quite a few times of being a "dealer/distributor" a "character assassin" an undercover "sales rep", etc.

It's ridiculous and absurd and one of the most childishly paranoid things I've seen on a recording website yet. Do any of you guys who do this realize how absolutely Silly you sound?

It makes people feel unwelcome (it has made me feel unwelcome at times). Spam this and spam that. Who cares?

Coyote....You are right ...in a way...and lacking some knowledge in other ways about this subject. Yes, there are many times that the suspicious minds are simply way too flagrant and it taints what should be a pleasant experience ie: logging on and talking about recording. Where you ,perhaps, are failing to understand, is that every mention of a brand name will become a kernal in the cyberspace atmosphere and will become a google-point back to this reference. So, if you are a dealer of gear, and you go on these BB sites and throw your lines of gear around and do so in a way that creates buzz, this will become a reference point for many who have never heard of a particular line, or are looking for opinion and confirmation for their intended purchase. Its like getting free advertising and as such is not fair to those who pony up bucks to advertise in a legitimate way. While there is a bit of ubber-paranoia and distaste in some folks' psyches about this, David is not one of those and as Mods we are always on the look-out for such blatant misuse of our bandwidth here. Its one thing that as volunteers we agree to try and combat. I know it looks silly but I hope now you have a better understanding of the why. Peace...dadogg.

I can totally understand how my initial post could have been misconstrued as a sales pitch.
And I do not fault David for exercising suspision.
However, the intent of my post was simply a humble request for third-party feedback on a brand I still have certain doubts about.
Certain pieces have served me well in the limited time I've owned them, but as with any home-studio recording techechnology, I'd be curious to hear some other opinions before I make a poor choice in "brand loyalty"

I'm always one to try out cheap gear to see if mods are possible....

anyone have any experience with alto stuff? And where can i look in to some of thier gear? and no, I'm not a rep or dealer.

I've thought about buying some Alto stuff to see if its moddable (word?) like Alesis and some Behringer products are. Of course, I like to mod anything I didn't have to finance. I, too, would be curious to hear any possibilities other modders have found for Alto.
