In a high-end studio, i.e. Avatar Studios, Ocean Way, Post-production houses in NYC, all that jazz, how do they feel about tattoos?
I always carry myself respectfully and professionally, (except when jp22 is around) and would like to continue to do so.
Obviously it's a no-no for interviews and internships, but as far as people that actually work there, are they the same colorful characters, or are they more clean cut then your average Full-Sail grad?
I'm asking because I am planning on getting one soon, as a memorial for my grandfather, but I am nervous as far as where to get it.
I want to get it on my forearm because that's where his was, but he also was in the Navy, which I am not.

Here is a military perspective for you. In the Corps, a bastion of getting inked, visible tats will now prohibit your promotion flow. Same with the Navy. This used to only be true only for jobs with high visibility like Embassy duty, but it has spread service wide. It's not that anyone within the service really cares (provided it isn't racist BS) but the PR factor is so crucial in today's world that everyone is concerned about the image. This is your real corollary I think.
Just for the historical record, traditional style service tats were not just on forearms but were often on biceps/triceps or on the back. Popeye made the forearm ink seem the most manly way to go. On the other hand, nothin' is more fun than stirring up a bunch of Crackerjacks!

It doesn't have to be on the forearm, now does it? I am pretty sure your granddad would have agreed with me that he wouldn't want someone else's opinion of some ink on your body to possibly cost you in pursuit of your profession.
Many people compromise, and get tattoos on the upper arm, etc., which would be covered normally.
