I have both. I have lots of outboard so I use them mainly when I've run out of hardware and they both do a good job. However I tend to go to the UAD-1 for Eq and compressors (Cambridge, Pultec, Fairchild, 1176, LA-2) and to the Powercore for reverbs, Megareverb and classicverb both sound good. And powercore has one of the best ampsimulators I've ever heard, the Tubifex. Powercore is an open platform so who knows what might be coming from 3rd party developers. The Sony Oxford stuff is already available and they've released the TC M6000 reverbs for it now... And the powercore dsp-card is very similar to ProTools dsp-cards so TDM-plugins should be pretty easy to translate to the powercore platform. That might open up for more plugs to choose from. The powercore with the Sony stuff and some of their own "additional" plugins is a great package. As is the UAD-1 for a lot less money... I think you'll be very happy with both, although the UAD-1 gives you probably a bit more bang for the buck.
I have UAD-1. I like compressors (1176LN. LA2A & Fairchild) ,cambridge-pultec EQ plugins of UAD. Reverb are not as good as on my Lexicon PCM-81 but still better than some other reverb plugins.
I have the powercore. I like the reverbs and the maximiser capabilities, and am excited by the possibilities of the voice modelling and the virus synths.
I intend to get the UAD-1 also.....the compressors are better models. I've used one on another system.
I find I use the UAD for many of my EQ's and Comps- between the 1176, LA-2, Pultecs, Precision EQ/Limiter, etc... I use my powercore for Reverbs, my Oxford EQs, some of my restoration stuff.... They both get pretty equal use- just for different things.

Hi there I'm looking into getting the UAD-1 Studio package to work with in Pro Tools.
I'm just wondering how much processing can you get out of the DSP chip on the board?
Cheers
