I just picked up a SM7B this weekend. I had never used one before.
I was a bit shocked by how smooth it was.
It produced a decent vocal sound even when compared to my U87.
Anyway I tried it on Vocals, ACU GTR and Tabla. It was decent at all but would not be my first choice for any of those. The handling noise is fantastic as is the SPL handling.
Anyway please let me know your used for it.
Thanks,

Hey, Link!
I think bein' a new dad is gettin' to ya a bit...this is the Song & Mix Critique section, not Microphones...LOL!
I used to have a SM7b. It is a bit fuller than a 57 or 58, same basic cartridge in them, I believe. I replaced mine with a Heil PR40, me like mucho bettero. The 7 worked well with leather-lunged vocals and loudass geetar amps, that was about it, but I didn't try it on drums (can you see someone trying to point that monster at a snare?)... I wanted more "air" for acoustic guitars, etc., and that's what the U87 is good at.
