Just curious:
1. Who all here has invvested in one (or more) of these?
2. What do you think about getting tracks on XM? Has anyone tried, do you find it to be easy/difficult?
3. What do you think about the sound quality? (I've personally noticed some obvious artificting, especially in the high-registers - though this differs significantly on various decoding systems, but there obviously has to be some type of compression to transmit this much info via Satellite.)
Thanks!

I'd probably get it if I drove more, but aside from doing runouts to remotes (where I usually just listen to traffic reports the whole time, in order to get there quickly), I don't find I listen in the car all that much anymore. (Somtimes I HATE being a grownup! :x )
I'm probably going to go with the RIO MP3 player at some point and just load it up with my favorite stuff; a friend of mine got one, and says it's the "Bee's Knees" for portable music. He says at 20 gigs, (considered small these days!) he's got more than enough to handle most car, plane or train trips. (After that, he says it's time to rethink just HOW much music one needs at any one time.... ;-)
I just don't like the idea of a tether (Satellite receiver, that is) to get the signal, unlike ground-based radio. I know there's a home-version, but I'm told it still needs a line of sight to the horizon, so..... I'm sure it's a great idea for many, though. (And it sure solves the whole "Howard Stern" issue, once and for all, even though people seem to have forgotten about the almighty "OFF" button. )

Grown-ups DON'T get excited by microphones! As I count the few remaining months to my 40th birthday, it's nice to have discovered the font of eternal youth! The hair may be gone, and the lines may be deepening by the hour, but the thought of finding that perfect set of M50s..... I can't wait to see the mic collection I'll have when I'm 65!

I took a road trip last year to play a gig at the Terlingua Chili Cookoff...was a 5 hour trip (each way!) and for the most part it was the XM system in the vehicle...
Yes, there was some 'discussion' about the quality of the sound...I think all they do is broadcast MP3s...which in a car or truck cruising 75 MPH is just fine, as nuances or 44.1/16 are lost to road noise.
