Hi experts,

I’m doing a bit of research into the high-end miniature microphones market (headset, lavalier type mics used in theater for example).

Does anyone have an idea of how many miniature mics are being sold each year and how many of those mics are Countryman vs DPA vs Sennheiser vs Shure vs other (?) mics?

Just looking to get a sense of their relative size…

I think the world as we once knew it is now wondering how the hell we did it all without a sampler lol.

Slightlyoff topic but fun to twist it a bit. I was just on the Slutz chiming in on a thread about the bass and drums used for Joe Jackson's 1982 track, Steppin Out. I covered that song. (programmed and sang it). After mentioning this someone actually thought I was Joe Jackson! ROTF. I love it.

The end is near. Something really weird is on the rise. Hack and track, Pro Audio and Home Recording is soon to be an iphone and a few miniature mics sharing the stage with us. A whole pile of users claiming this is just as good as my rig is just around the corner. DAW just entered smartDAW.
Glad I'm not an analog manufacturer in this day and age.

It took me months to get new VU meters replaced under warranty. I wonder how long they will last this time. How manufacturers will keep the food on the table when people aren't making things has me thinking.
Where is Manley these days. I hardly ever read a thing about them. They don't advertise. A company that is known for stellar is only affordable to a few. So, to keep paying the bills, they create a plug-in that looks good and UAD handles it like ascap lol. Am I close?

I definitely see a new generation on the rise. I hoped it was vinyl and vintage influenced but it costs to much money to play for real. Money that they don't have.
