The D2424 looks like it has a nice feature set, at a very reasonable price. Anyone tried it? How does it sound? Reliable? How does it compare to the Tascam MX2424?

Well we have one. I have only used it as a front end to my Motu rig: 2408/1224, so I can get 24 tracks I/O via adat lightpipe. Frankly I think the 1224 sounds better. We do have one other engineer who has used it extensively. It seems pretty easy, although the HD has to be formatted for the SRC, ie 48k, 44.1, 88.2 or 96k. This is a PITA. You can't have multiple projects on the same drive with different rates.

Thanks Henry,

I was wondering if anyone would reply. I guess there are not a lot of D2424 users around here.

I was thinking of doing the same thing as you, using the D2424 as AD/DA, as well as a portable recorder if needed.

The 1224 is supposed to be a good sounding piece...given the D2424's price, I guess it's too much to expect it to sound as good as a dedicated interface like the 1224.

Thanks for the info.
