Is it all good (Legal) if i go round my town getting sponsors for my album (I need £200 to upgrade my home studio to record my first bedroom album)
If people sign the sponsor form and give some money in return i'll give a 'Thank you pack' which includes a copy of my album, and also have there name on a 'Thank you' leaflet inside the album

That's the way most artists would get a commission to create art or a sculpture for someone!
Find some benefactors to support your art. Same sort of concept!
You might need or want a portfolio of your works that they can listen to.
Blind donations to your cause might be a tough sell...
