My high school group just got back from New York and a wonderful choral festival with world class clinicians (Weston Noble, Andre Thomas and Goeffrey Boers) and a performance at Lincoln Center. They sang exceptionally well and we were all anxious to hear what we sounded like in the house. Unfortunately due to some mix-up on someone's part it didn't happen. I got this email today and just needed to vent.
...our concerts were not recorded by the sound engineer at Alice Tulley Hall. During the evening sound checks, we asked about when recordings would be available, and that is when we discovered the sound booth was empty. The hall had recording on the production schedule, and I had talked to the engineer the day before, however, somehow the engineer did not show up for our performances. While we understand how much effort went into such wonderful performances, we do regret the breakdown in production by Alice Tulley Hall and their normally reliable staff.
We'll always have the memory and the experience but.
This is one of those cases (like flying and checking account balances) where 99% accuracy isn't good enough. Sorry, just needed to get this out to an audience who might understand.

As I a work as financial controller, hold a private pilot license, play music and record it, I can only agree.

That's a carefully worded response you received, if you read between the lines. I think it's an IATSE union hall, though, and, they probably were the responsible party for staffing the event. (Which makes it all the more puzzling that they dropped the ball on this. It seems unthinkable that no one wanted to make some $$$ that day...)
It won't get your recording back, but perhaps you could find out what REALLY happened with a call to their local office in NYC; perhaps avoid it happening next time.
What's really sad is how many of us are within only a few hours commute from there and could have helped you out, but again it's no doubt a union hall..... :oops:
