Hey everyone I am new here and am looking to start my own home studio. I am really eager to learn the art of audio engineering and have learned a lot already.

Basically the equipment I have right now are as follows:
MacBook Pro 2GB of RAM
Logic Pro 8
I have read Modern Recording Techniques

I know its not a lot but thats because I want to spend my money wisely. There are a couple things I need right now to get started. Please tell me if I am wrong or if you have any suggestions.
Right now I am going to be looking into buying a decent audio interface(compatible with Logic pro) some mic's and a couple monitors. Thats really it for now. You know, just so I can get the hang of recording small things and learning my program in and out.

I was looking into the PreSonus Firestudio, some Shure SM57 or 58, and I have no idea what to buy for monitors.

If you have any suggestions about equipment or things to watch out for please let me now I would really appreciate it.

Pick up the local yellow pages, rip out the page with ads for local recording studios. Ring 'em up and say you want to come in and ear bash for an hour, what's the rate? Then do it. See what the pros have in your area and what their tech does.

Go shopping too, find out what can be bought. Try things out, bend salespeople's ears.

Got nothing.
