Putting together a large ProTools HD system with facilities for lots of inputs and handling video is not done in an hour. There is a difference when comparibg to putting together a small home studio system, sort of like comparing buying a 16 wheel trailer to buying a compact town car. When you buy the HD system you may transfer heavy loads and do difficult things, and you can buy a lot of options not available on the compact car, err sorry home studio DAW.

Well, they are interfaces. The first is for clock and sync signals, the second for already digitized sound. If you need them you know what they are for.

The 192 Digital IO goes after the AD or before the DA. That is if you do not like the Digidesign AD or DA. It connects to the core system. It might as well be used as interface to a Digital tape recorder or as interface to other digital things.

Depends on what you are going to use your system for. Generally every ProTools HD system needs a computer and a core system. To that you add at least one interface. If you need more channels or more functions you add more interfaces.

If you are synchronizing your ProTools rig with other audio or video recorders, you will need the Sync I/O.
