does anyone know what material can be used as a substitute for auralex SheetBlok material. I know that there is a substitute, but I am not sure what it is called.

I am looking at purchasing some bass traps for my control room and performance room. There are many companies who make them - which ones are better and less expensive?

Hey, I'd seen this site on the net and decided I'd try and build 'em (see links below). It took my wife and I a day to build two 6'X14" traps. I can hardly believe how much of a difference it has made in the sound of my booth... it has just sucked out the mud. I pulled the trap out a couple of times just to check it out... man, what a difference. And the best part...

Ok, this is Waaaaay off...maybe. Instead of floating a whole floor on Auralex U-Boats, can I use something else rubber? Like...well, hockey pucks seem too hard and would transfer vibrations I assume. (This isn't for a whole floor, just maybe a platform for amps or. .whatever. Point is, this is theoretical as of now). How would old TIRES work?

I just located some 701 fiberglass for sound control. Cost- about $1.60 for a 2'x4'x1.5" piece. As far as I know, thats a great price. BUT: He'll only sell it in a pack of 30 :eek: . Way too much for my needs. Anyone around CLEVELAND (200 mile radius) want to split it with me?

I was pleased as a pig in poop that our home studio area had a big (8' ceiling, 10'L 6'W) walk in closet I could record VOCALS in. Clothes on one side, rug, and the rest bare walls. Was going to put some 701 board fiberglass up on the walls and ceiling- basically make it dead. Thought that was OK.
