Ambience - The residual “room sound” of a listening environment.

So I was playing with reverbs .
Does this sound coherent as a group in a hall ?
What needs changing to make it more believable ?

I just recorded drums and there is a weird ominous ambience in the background in some parts of the song. Can anyone tell me what it may be?:eek:

The result of sound reflections in a confined space being added to the original sound. Ambience may also be created electronically by some digital reverb units. The main difference between ambience and reverberation is that ambience doesn't have the characteristic long delay time of reverberation - the reflections mainly give the sound a sense of space.

There is something which has been bothering more and more of late, a nagging feeling that I am missing a very significant link in my understanding of reverb and stereo image.

Hi, I'm having some trouble installing the Reverb plugin Ambience by Magnus on my Mac running Locig Express 8. I drag the.component file into /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components folder but it does not show up in Logic's Audio Units section in the DAW itself. Can someone help me with this? Also, are there any better free/inexpensive reverb plugins that are any good?

No, the dialogue can't be re-recorded live.

Got a really special gig for three days starting tomorrow. Chamber wind quintet with piano and soprano, their third CD. In our really beautiful hall, I rarely use ambience mics, as I rely on tiny amounts of reverb later to add air and bloom if at all.

One of my friends is in an electronic/grindcore band (Genghis Tron http://www.myspace.com/genghistron), and was talking about how sometimes he thinks his EP sounds a bit too digital/overprocessed. That's sorta inevitable with 2/3 of his band using synths and computer programmed beats.
