I'm going to be moving to Boston for school soon, and planning on staying there afterwards. Can anyone tell me how the music scene is there, as far as the business side and job opportunities? Are there many labels based out of Boston? Or any other thing worth knowing or looking up? Is it a good place to be for this career?
I am wondering if anyone uses floor speakers as monitors. I was looking around today and found some good deals on some Boston Acoustic cr85 bookcase speakers and a Klipsch f1 set of floor speakers. Has anyone used either of these? Are you satisfied? Would anyone recommend another set of speakers?
Thanks

Every now and again we take someone into our shop and train them. Our current guy is leaving at the end of this week for a rather nice paying gig... we wish him well, and now it's time for some fresh meat... this is the first time we've mentioned it on "Recording.Org" so we'll see how it goes.
I work at an advertising agency here in Philadelphia and I need a Voice-over studio in Boston. It will most likely be an hour or so.

I'm pretty new to this site and recording in general, so please forgive my ignorance. Im also trying to do the best I can working with a pathetic budget. Up until now I have spent all my money on a hard track recorder, mixer, and mics and have just been monitoring with a cheap bookshelf stereo.
