Given the same cpu, how much difference does the extra cache make real world?
Also how can AMD cpus have a higher model number and a lower clock speed than a chip with a lower model number?
i.e 3700+ = 2.2 ghx, and 3400+ = 2.4 ghz?

I have really been into the field of assembling my own DAWs but haven`t built one since more than 2years, since a lot has changed I would definitly need some advice.
Here is my configuration for now.
I halso have some specific questions afterwards...
i have an intel pentium 4 2.4 ghz 533 bus speed onboard 256mb ram onboard vga sound.(onboard sound i dont use)
80gb IDE hard drive,sblive 5.1
it's not yet for my personal use so i have trouble working on it.
These are the two brands, there parts and services are easily available here.
Intel and AMD not Mac or any other unfortunately.
I hope this topic hasn't been covered already. I couldn't find a thread.
