I need some help choosing the right equipment for my brand new studio.
I am building a room that I will use to rehearse and record drums. My PC is located in another room, which is more or less 10 m far away.
I have to choose an audio interface and a way to control everything while having my case far away, so my questions are:
hey I was just wondering if the length of the USB cable matters for audio interfaces, or at what point (length) performance becomes effected?
I'm just messing around with a Scarlett solo during his interim, and have a chance to mess with various orientations and configurations for a few (prof of concept) swipe I've started to get going.

4' snakes would be really clean but you never know if those cables might be needed down the path at a longer lenght. How many times do we say that after the fact. :mad:
Questions:
Has anyone ever added an extension to 25PIN DSUB 8 channel snake to add extra length for analog? pro's cons?
I am tracking a few songs for the church I work at and to save costs, we are doing all the recording in house. We have a worship center that has a custom-install snake through conduit in the wall with several parallel termination points.
I connect my PreSonus firepod to my powerbook via firewire, of course. The way my desk is setup though, it's a bit of an inconvenience with the firewire cord only being about 3 feet long. Just wondering, if i went up to an 8 foot or so firewire cable, will i experience any negative side effects?
I'm thinking about moving my CPU into the other room.
how long can a firewire cable be with out causing problems?

could a MIDI cable lenght affect in some way the latency?
i'm going to be changing the location of my project studio, and this will allow for a small noise free booth with monitoring in a completely different room. it should be much more convenient and noise free.
with this new location, much longer XLR cables will be required to get signal from the microphones. so my questions are this:
