Okay .. the readers digest version is I'm building a mini B studio ( studio A got moved to another location).

This started as a hobby for me way back in 1988 ( boy have we come along way). It's still a hobby now and will be my retirement hobby after my girls finish university ( if there's any money left LOL)

Anyhow, I'm struggling with the interface decisions ...

Hello all and thank you for having me.

Ok, I think this is a strange one however I think that an audio forum would be the best!

I have a video studio which is great however I need help with the audio.

I have an amplifier and (I think) an omnidirection MIC. I will get the make and modles later today and put it in this post.

The problems I have is:

upgrading my gear! gonna leave it to the pros (am i in the right direction?)

Hello,

This is my first post on here so don't be too harsh  I'm looking to get into recording specifically vocal trance but I really have no idea where to start. Normally I try to search as much as I can before I do something like this but I have to admit, all of this stuff is way over my head.

I am in the market for a Digital Audio Workstation with 8 or more preamps (inputs), but one which I don't need to buy any Pro Tools software to use. I just want to record raw digital tracks, transfer them to my laptop via firewire or usb, and work with the tracks using Cool Edit Pro on the laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum here though I've lurked for a couple weeks reading through posts. I used to be in a band and I would now like to record my songs.

I want to to build myself a nice setup to record 2 tracks at a time live, but be able to handle 12 tracks or so total. Ideally, the ability to record more tracks would be nice, but money is an object here.

Looking to put together a home studio and trying to decide on a starting point (obviously there are many different directions to choose from.
I am having a difficult time deciding which way to go.

Is a standalone a good way to go...or should I be focusing on an interface for a pc based DAW,
such as PreSonus firebox or maybe a Mackie mixer with firewire card, etc.
