New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2014 - comparisons

Two bands coming at sound 2 different ways. It made me think, realize (yet once again), how we lack so much life in music today. One of these bands is so over compressed where the other has very little processing and fantastic mic placement.

Santana is all about dynamics. I listened to most of Santana then compared the same show with Christina Aguilera.

Howdy from San Antonio. Does anyone have any experience and/or advice for recording in a festival setting? There will be 2 to 4 choirs per hour for 2 days, with barely enough time to finalize a CD in between the choirs. I did this for the first time last spring, and didn't have any real problems, but I'm always looking for ways to improve. Last year I used a stereo pair of 414s in omni.

I've been asked to provide a computer and software to record a small bluegrass festival this weekend.

Looking for a software package that will allow me to record to a computer and have AGC too.

Is there anything out there that will do Automatic Gain Control?

Other options and suggestions welcome.

Well... In a few other posts here recently, I alluded to being in Oklahoma for work. While there, I kept a log of sorts about what I did for the various concerts. In the spirit of sharing gig reports, here it is
