I would appreciate your opinion on the Focurite Octopre MKII, mostly the sound quality.
I want to add more mic inputs to my setup. I already have a computer interface with optical I/O (MOTU 828 MKII) so I think the Octopre would do the job at the right price.
Because it is a newer design, I would use the Octopre clock to sync the 828MKII.

I have the octopre as master to the 003 through light pipe. Its all set up right. I know it is! Just replaced the cable also. problem I'm having is the octopre is very moody as far as the sync. Its locking but then in the middle of my session today the sync went bad. Gave me a big blast of hell out of the monitors and wouldnt sync immediately after that. Always more crap in the channel.
i cant sync 003 with my silverface octopre. its been fine for many years and I just changed the ADAT lightpipe cable to see if that helped. NADA! Everything is set up right in PT and i select the ADAT for the souce clock in PT but it now gives me a "Problem with clock source clock" or something.
Im doing some recording this weekend (drums) and I know have a Focusrite octopre in my arsenal. What are everyones experience with the octopre? its seems as though there are not many switches or knobs per channel and seems fairly easy to use. Just would like to see what some pro's or home studio guru's had to say. Thanks.
hey everyone, I'm using a Focusrite octopre and a pro tools le 7 system with the 002 factory board. Using an optical cable to connect the two, but i cant figure out how to assign the optical in to a track let alone which channel of the octopre..can anyone share their expertise?

Is it possible to connect a Focusrite octopre directly to a macbook? I already have a digi002 and will be able to use them together via the ADAT, but will I be able to connect the octopre directly to the mac book. I realize i won't be able to do it with Protools. I have logic express and GB on the macbook.

I want to augment the number of inputs on my 01v96 for live and (live)recording.
Anyone have experience with both Focusrite's Platinum range preamps (Octopre, Voicemaster) and The Brick? How do they stack up? Has anyone compared The Brick to a VTB-1? (I assume at $100 the VTB-1 lands in that budget category of "sounds okay, but nothing special"). Any insight would be appreciated.
