I've decided to start upgrading my touring rack a little bit and one of the things I'd like to add is a decent vocal preamp. I know people say you don't really need it, but it's an option I'd like to have.

What I would really like is it to be flexible. This means a decent EQ section, a decent compressor, bonus points for de-esser and of course road-worthyness.

Hello!

I've been in and out of the forums the past two/three years trying to figure some stuff out. So far, we are back to square one.

First, let me give you all the setting. We are a church of about 350 and have pretty rocking music and dynamic services. It is our goal to get setup for TV, web streaming, CD production, etc.

bit new to live mixing so any help here would be appreciated...i have a 2 channel 31 band EQ and all of my front of house is in mono. Can I use channel A on my EQ for my front of house and use channel B for my foldback (monitors)? Will it work? Is it stupid? Is there any reason why I have to use both channels for front of house?

Most of my FOH work is at or near charity level. Some jobs are no charge, others I charge very little. Once or twice a year I might make a few hundred on an FOH job. I have no mains or monitors - don't have the space to store them, haul them, and since I basically don't get paid for this stuff I can't justify the cost. If I need them, the client rents them.
