Ok dumb noob question I know...but Ive only been taking mixing seriously for a little less than a year.



Anyhow, I didn't even really think that it mattered. But I remembered reading SOMEWHERE that u NEVER have the master fader higher than the channel faders. or was it VICE VERSA?

I have the MAudio Axiom 49 and it has all those knobs and faders which I wanted to know how exactly do I use them and how can I activate them on Apple GarageBand?



Also there are the buttons of "record" - "play" - "stop" etc..

How do I activate them also that it will work with GarageBand?

I've been recording for a while and I'm trying some new equipment out and I'm a little jammed.



I have a 24x24 SoundCraft Spirit Mixer and a PreSonus Firepod.

These are questions I have concerning "in the box" mixing, since I've never heard them answered satisfactorily before:

I am just wondering which level should the mixer's master fader be set when recording/ mixing or mastering?
