Hello there. I am going to buy a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP interface, which will be working along with Shure SM7B or Shure Beta 58a. Right now I just need to choose which FireWire to use and I have no idea. Is there any difference between FireWire 800 or 400? And most important is 800 for every computer with FireWire? (got ACER 7730g)

Okay so I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I want to know when in the heck are we going to see a refresh in interface technology that uses either Firewire 800 or USB 3.0? Both of these have much faster transfer rates than their predecessors, and most quality computers have Firewire 800 and I believe USB 3.0 is becoming more common place.

Hey guys -

Anybody know of a specific (Brand and Model) board which works well? I prefer the TI chipset, but have found that the RME Fireface is less picky than others, so any one that works solidly would be great!

Basically, I think I'll need a ExpressCard to FW400 or FW800 adapater such as the one located at this link:

I'm guessing that is 800mbps? the old standard was 500mbps?
I've got a laptop, my only complaint is that it doesn't have firewire. I've seen PCMCIA adapters with firewire ports. I think they were 500mbps.

Do they make 800mbps? Is 500mbps fast enough to track 8 stereo channels?
