Helmholtz resonance or wind throb is the phenomenon of air resonance in a cavity, such as when one blows across the top of an empty bottle.

Some of the orchestras I've seen have engineers using various types of mics hanging from the ceiling and I've been wondering which ones the tiny ones are in this video from Symphony Hall,Boston. From what I've seen they generally use maybe a half dozen hanging across at the front of the stage, what appear to be "full size" small-diaphragm, omnis maybe.

I just received a pair of Event Opal and yippy yahoo is all I have to say. I've had my eyes on these for over a year and they arrived today. I'm obviously on the sonic honeymoon so I'm not going to be able to give a solid review on them for a while but my first impression is... NICE
