I am hearing talk out there that with version 7 that we now may turn on our hyperthreading. I've heard two things,one is that it is only beneficial to people with dual core processors or dual processors. The other is that it doesn't make a difference at all with single pro(what the hell is the abb. for this!) So far I think things are the same other than it takes 3 sec.

I'm having to install Pro Tools LE (6.4 with MBox) on my DAW PC but Digidesign state that you must disable Hyperthreading in the BIOS before proceeding.
I have wondered about the relevance to audio that Intels new "HT technology" has.
I have in the past been assured of its non- relevance to audio on this forum.
I have just learned that there is another "school of thought on the matter"
In my considerations for the purchase of a processor for the DAW I am trying to finish assembling, I gots to know,If somebody can say!
Is hyperthreading pertinent to disk-recording/streaming,or D/A,A/D conversions?

Well, as you may or may not know I went ahead and got myself the 3.06Ghz CPU with Hyperthreading!
Man oh man! Is this cool! Seeing two CPU's on a sinlge CPU system is very sweet! :D
I seem to recall a thread a while back where somebody heard rumors that the P4 2.4B Northwood (533FSB) might support hyperthreading. For some reason I can't find the thread. Anybody know if this rumor is true? Thanks!
