EV RE20 vs. Heil PR40?

The reason Im asking is because people speak highly of the RE20, but I see it mostly associated with Micing drums rather than vocals, though Ive heard/seen examples of what it sounds lik with vocals. I like the fact that it has the high pass/low cut switch.

Ive also heard a lot of people speak highly of the Heil PR40, so Im wondering which you guys think is better?

Shure SM57 vs. Heil PR20 on Heavy Guitars

Both are very good mics that anyone should be able to achieve good sound with. The SM57 is a classic and many classic and modern guitar tracks have been recorded with them. The Heil PR20 is a different sound and sounds more balanced to my ear. Fuller on the low end, easier on the brightness, but one drawback is that it seems a little busy in the mids. Little EQ to fix this, not a big deal.

Heil PR 20

I am expecting one in the mail shortly. I bought it mainly for electric guitar miking, but I am curious of others' experiences with it. Particularly for voice and acoustic guitar applications. Under what circumstances would you choose it over an SM58 for voice? Under what circumstances would you choose it over an SM57 for acoustic guitar? Anything else you can tell me about the mic?

HEIL MICROPHONES, KNOW THEM, USED THEM LOVED THEM?

I have been hearing a lot of positive things about the Heil microphones. Opinions on them. (PR20, PR30, PR40). I have never used them so my opinion is neutral but people are comparing them to Neumann Microphones which I find hard to believe for the price but I'm curious of there sonic value.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving you post!

Opinions on the Heil PR40 and Electro-Voice RE20/RE27 mics?

I'm looking to add a couple mics to my setup. Right now all I have is an AT4033. I'm mainly recording vocals and recording acoustic guitar. The Heil PR40 seems nice for the price but I've never heard one, any opinions? Also curious if anyone here as any tips for getting decent mics on a budget?
