With its latest release, AMD has closed the performance gap with Intel. The differences apples to apples (core for core) are negligible now.
This means Intel will have to drop prices to stay competitive, and AMD Ryzen is now not only a no compromise option in performance, its a clear winner in performance per dollar.
Well for years I have been running on "budget builds" ... mainly from the point of view that there needed to be a significant improvement in processing and storage management to justify the expense of a new machine ..
Intel dropped their latest line of processors on OCT.5, 2017. I’ll link an article w the specs, but I’ll comment saying that they’ve added two more cores/threads compared to each previous model. So i5’s are 6 core now! i7’s are 6 core/6 threads! Pretty beastly upgrade.
Thats it...I'm selling all my gear...the partys' over, the machines are taking over.

Intel is going to launch their new Haswell Refresh processors very soon. Intel Haswell Refresh, as we concluded in our previous reports, consists of 20 new CPUs with just 100 MHz higher clocks than the previous CPU in that price bracket.
Intel Core i5 3470 - 3.2GHz - 1MB L2 - 6MB L3 or the AMD FX-8320 - 3.5GHz - 8MB L2 - 8MB L3
Which would you guys recommend for an audio PC. Obviously this is not a professional build. Its for my home PC, but I would like to run as plugins as possible. Plus midi.

hey all the stuff i found on the internet kinda seems like you have to hack your computer, which i don't want to do. wondering if they're is a resonable way to install mac OS on a toshiba intel core 2 dual (1.6) running windows xp. I've started to use Digital Performer down at the studio, and would like to practice with it on my home laptop. Thanks.
I am beginning to build a rig that will be dedicated to being used in our slowly growing home studio. At the moment we are using FL Studios 10 on my everyday custom rig I built a few years ago. It has served us well the past few months but has developed problems. So hear I am researching to try and do it right the first time.
