madi

Hello ladies and gents. My Orion 32 keeps disconnection via USB so I was thinking would it still work using MADI? Would I need to configure anything in the control panel cause sometimes I can't get to it?

I am, as audiokid knows, now in possession of more gear than I truly know what to do with :). I really would like to go as Chris says to go out one system into another. Here is my dilemma, I was going to use my iMac and run a second copy of Logic Pro X, which thanks to Apple I could. Trouble is, I can't fit it in the studio alongside the 32 inch screen the Mac Pro currently has.

Not much more to add on this OP other than say, I have been on PCIe AES for years. I've switched to an RME MADI PCIe interface last night and did 64 tracks at 88.2 including midi and vsti processing without a glitch.

I'm migrating to MADI.

I just bought a used MADI HDSPe interface with no cable. Digging through my nest of cable, I tried toslink and monster fiber cable but it doesn't work. So, I've been doing some research on what cable to buy and learning the differences.



RME MADI requires either 50/125 µm and 62.5 µm

390 channels = 194 ins, 196 out



Looks very impressive and at 14 samples and no errors.



But who here used this many channels? Its got to be a very small number of studios compared to most yes? Never the less, looks very impressive.

Seems to be a well done converter. The specs look very promising and the price is very good as well (1.900,- EUR). :rolleyes:

They also make an AES version of it. :cool:

Anyone use MIDI over MADI? How does it work for people heavy into midi programming keyboards and drums? How is the latency?

I'm choosing a NEW AD DA conversion and PCIe interface for my tracking and hybrid mixing room. Win7 64 desktop.

Apart from my remote system. Its getting close, I'm making a decision on a new 16 I/O AD DA system and need some clarification help. Tossing between Lynx and RME and need MIDI but can work around this.



ADI8-QS-M x 2 are what I'm looking at. I'm guessing this is the interface (HDSPe MADI card )? How do I interface 2 ADI8-QS-M this to this?

What is MADI all about?
