expanding FirePod channels using MacBook Pro
hey guys,
i am looking at a cheap way of expanding channels on my existing Mac Book Pro / PreSonus FirePOD set up.
I am aware that i can buy another PreSonus FirePod and chain them together however... i am looking to add a cheaper alternative... and additional 4-8 Channels (12 -16 total) would do me just fine... just wondering if anyone has a similar setup?

Recording with Macbook Pro, AKG C2000B, & MicPort Pro
First of all, will I be okay with this setup as far as the soundcard goes? The Centrance Micport Pro will be my USB interface, but I'm assuming the soundcard that comes standard on the 15" Macbook Pro is pretty decent?

Everytime when I run more than 5 instruments in Live 6 with my Macbook, it delay and display 100% usage of the CPU power. So frustrated!

iMac/Macbook Digital Audio I/O
Good morning! I just helped an older friend of mine who is a self-proclaimed "Analog man living in a Digital world" order a new 17" iMac. He's upgrading from an old G3 "color" iMac that is like 7 years old. I've only been a Mac user since May of 2006, so my knowledge is still limited. Now, I know that new macs have a "Audio line in/optical digital audio input (minijack)".

BUSS power 6 pin Firewire- PC Notebook or MACbook only?
Hi all.
I am researching notebooks for a group who want full mobility with a small recording rig. This will involve bus power or even battery packs of some description obviously.
Recording Via Macbook Pro's Optical SPDIF
Is anybody out there recording straight into their Macbook Pro's optical SPDIF?
Is it possible to hook up a system that goes: preamp ---> A/D/A ---> Macbook Pro optical SPDIF?
If so, what are the drawbacks to this? Are there any quality issues? Would I be better off with a two-channel firewire system?

Safe to buy a macbook pro?
Hi
About a month or so ago I was just about to buy a macbook pro, but then I came across a website that listed many problems with this machine including severe overheating (with consequent distortion of the chassis), wining noises, discoloration of the chassis, and frequent shut-downs.
