Hey everybody,

I have recorded my songs in 24-bit, and as the last part of the process, as I am mastering, I am also using a 'UV22HR' plugin to convert into 16 as I create the WAV files. At least that's my understanding.  However, I'm reading now that I should mix to the same bit rate as my session was recorded in.

I have a project which contains a vocal track that has its volume elevated to the point of clipping - on purpose. It sounds really nice. When I play it in my program (Sonar 7) it sounds nice, at least. This is because the only track that is clipping is the vocal track, and everything else comes through clear when it does. When I export and mix down to a single stereo track, bad things happen.

I'm currenlty having trouble with the quality of mix downs in Cubase sx3, their not as powerful as what i'm hearing back during mixing (lacking stero space and power once played on other stereos etc). I also use a set of Sennheiser headphones as reference monitors whilst mixing to check placement etc etc

I am tired of mixing down to the Masterlink from PTHD.

Beside the option to go with the Tascam RA-1000, I am thinking about a stereo mixing down digitally to a DAW.

What is the best setup opinion? I am thinking about Mac/Peak Pro and Lynx EAS/EBU or RME or MINI MEoption?

any suggestion?

thanks
