Monitor placement & triangle size & monitor size for my apartment studio.
Right now i'm set up like this.
Right now i'm set up like this.
In Preparation for my new monitors arriving I moved my workstation to the other wall and set up shop there. My audio sounds so completely different now even before I set up the monitors. My speakers have down firing mid woofers and instead of bouncing off wood they now bounce off of glass.
I recently contacted K+H about my D's and they gave me some helpful tips I had not seen elsewhere before, so I thought I'd share with you guys. Here are snippets from his email:
Answering the question "How close is too close to a wall or corner?"
How far away from the back wall should you place the speakers? (How close can you get away with?)
Thanks for the help.
Feel free to direct me if there is a post about this somewhere; I coudn't find it. But I have been wondering recently about monitor placement. Can the angle you point your monitors and the distance they are from eachother affect phase issues like comb filtering? I would expect so.
Hi there,
I'm currently setting up my little sound design suite and I have my TR8-N's spaced 48" apart
[Center of monitor, to the other monitors center]
Each speaker is about 40-44"away from my listening position with is approximately 45% to the center of the room.
i am looking to get some stands for my v8s
i have a desk that will not support the weight of these things. i have a computer desk, not a desk specifically designed for audio
what i was using was some speakers placed on top of platforms, which are part of the desk, but are really flimsy
these platforms are 36" from the ground
I am setting up my new Hafler TRM 8s and I ran into a dilemma. I purchased some Omnistudio mounts for bottom mounting and attached the mounts to the wall. How high can I place these monitors? Can I put them above my head and then tilt them down and still get the same imaging as setting them flat? Any problems with sound this close to the wall (6-12")?
