Description

The Story of Pearl and Milab 1910-1950: Born in Västerås, Sweden in 1914, Rune Rosander discovered an early interest in microphone technology and started experimenting with crystals in the 1930s while working for Swedish industrial giant ASEA (that later became ABB). In 1939, he founded Pearl Mikrofonlaboratorium (PML) in Stockholm, but the company was not formally incorporated until 1941. The isolation of World War II made it difficult to import components, so Mr. Rosander started growing Rochelle Salt crystals in his own home. The wartime lack of spare parts for imported microphones and a need for domestically produced microphones created a quickly growing market for Pearl.

Hello, I have found a vintage Pearl 8-CK (incl. power supply) when cleaning up an old house. Can somebody please help me in determining the value of this nice device ? I'm also thinking of selling it. Can somebody also inform me on where to sell this best ?

Just bought two of those - will get them next week. They are large diaphragm condenser with switchable characteristics and a rectangular capsule.

Does anyone know their sound?

What did you use them for?

Hi,

has anyone of you vintage mic junkies used

the Pearl 8-ck? It's a swedish LD tube condenser

with a square diafragm, made sometime in the

early sixites. I can possibly buy one, but

I can probably not audition it beforehand...

Pacific verses Pearls

I'm trying to get an inexpensive kit for my home studio. I found a Pacific kit for about $299 but I will have to get a cymbal set too, like the Sabian B8 set for $180. I have a friend that has a Pearl Export kit with some Zildgian cymbals that he'll sell to me for $350. I want something that will tune well and sound good for recording.
