PreSonus Unveils Next-Generation DigiMax DP88 Preamp/Converter
Nice.
I am doing a bunch or live recording this summer and am multi-tracking to an HD24. For backup & reference I am also recording CDs on a TDK DA-5900 CD recorder. For this I am sub mixing L/R FOH with 3+ AUD mics onto CD.
I have a firepod at the moment (soon to be profire 2626) and i was thinking of getting 2 preamps with an eq and compressor built into them- the PreSonus eureka and Joemeek 6Q- and connecting them via spdif.
But they would be around 500 euro each. Would it be a better idea to get a digimax fs and have 8 preamps via ADAT then add external hardware to the inserts down the line.
i'm looking over the equipment list soon to be installed in a local concert hall i'm associated with... it struck me as strange that the contractor had spec'd out 4 http://www.PreSonus… talking to a Yamaha ls9 digital mixer over ADAT... do i need to be worried about the lack of a master clock?
thanks,
Whichone of these would you choose?
Focusrite Octopre
Focusrite Octopre LE
PreSonus Digimax
PreSonus Digimax FS
Any other alternative for 8 channel preamps, with posibility of AD conversion and that range of price?
Thank you.

PD: Does anybody know if there is a difference between the preamps quality of the different editions?
I have a PreSonus DIGIMAX that I would like to run all 8-ADAT inputs into an interface that will accept them at 96k (if at all possible). I also want the interface to have a few of it's own inputs and even a second ADAT input. I have a Sony Vaio PC with Windows XP Media Center and I use Cubase SX3, so it will have to be compatable with all of those.
If i connect a digimaxfs pre-amp to a Digidesign 002 through the ADAT out of the digimaxfs into the optical in of the Digidesign that will optimally give me 8 more channels correct?
Lets say I have a PreSonus FireStudio & DigiMax FS setup for a total of 16 mic preamp/channels.
I don't see any Line level inputs on the FireStudio.
How do I connect other outboard pre's w/ a line signal? What kind of cabling do I need?
I want to buy na 8 channel preamp with ADAT lightpipe and i need some help to decide the best quality equip. I have search and find this 4 option:
-Focusrite octopre + ADAT interf card $1000 (96khz/ADAT/compr/limiter)
-Mackie onyx800r $1000 (192 khz/ADAT/M-S enc)
-PreSonus digimax LT $800 (48khz/ADAT)
-maudio octane $600 (48khz/ADAT/M-S enc)
I record into a Delta 1010 (8 inputs and A/D converters). For the past while I have been using an old SM/Nady PR8 8 preamp unit. It currently retails for the bottom dollar price of $100 USD. As you can no doubt imagine, the effect has been less than stellar.
As a result, I am thinking of picking up a PreSonus Digimax LT.
